Body and Spirit raises 3K

Body and Spirit Therapeutic Riding and Hippotherapy Program organizers are basking in the glow of a successful holiday fundraiser, as their 2007 calendar featuring horses involved in the program was a hit among holiday shoppers.

“We sold every one,” said Sandy McFadden of Body and Spirit. The organization sold 150 of them at $15 apiece, for a total of $2,250. When the cost of producing the calendars was factored in, it came away with about $1,500.

Thrivent Financial For Lutherans matched that total, making it a $3,000 effort for Body and Spirit.

“It was a fantastic fundraiser,” said McFadden. “If we had known the calendars would sell like that, we probably would have ordered 200. But we didn’t know how it was going to go over.”

Funds generated by the calendar promotion will be applied to the purchase of a horse and to pay for operational costs.
